Residents of the Australian Outback Depend on Satellite Wireless Broadband for Internet Service
The Outback of Australia is not the most hospitable of places to live. It is a vast land; hot, dry, prone to devastating brush fires, and populated by sheep and cattle stations that occupy hundreds of acres of land. The inhabitants of the Outback are isolated from one another. The children who live on the stations are so far from the nearest schools they receive their education from teachers broadcasting lessons over short wave radios and taking classes online. Television reception is dependent on satellite TV providers and without satellite wireless broadband there would be no Internet service. Without these two modern conveniences, life in the Australian Outback would be even more difficult.
